Akron Art Prize 2016

Akron Art Prize is a month-long arts experience that is open to visual artists with a public voting component via digital app and tablets. In the last four years, Akron Art Prize has made art accessible to the Summit County community. The accepted works of art will be placed in one location – Summit Artspace –  and open to the public for viewing and voting. To encourage visitors to attend and experience the event, voting will take place during universal venue hours and only allowed within the downtown arts district. Guests age 16 and older may download the Akron Art Prize app on their iPhone or Android device to view entries and cast votes. iPad kiosks are available for those without smart phone capabilities at all participating venues.

Akron Art Prize begins Saturday, Sept. 3 in conjunction with the Downtown Akron Artwalk, and closes Saturday, Oct. 1 with a finale in the Akron Art Museum. Results of the public voting will be announced and awards given during the finale, where all are welcome to attend.

New this year is the breakdown of prizes and the addition of a juried component. Prizes will be awarded as follows:

Public Choice Prizes:
Overall Winner – $5,000 and the honor of displaying his/her artwork in the Akron Art Museum for one month following Akron Art Prize
1st Place 2D – $2,000
2nd Place 2D – $1,000
1st Place 3D – $2,000
2nd Place 3D – $1,000
Artist Choice – $1,000

Juried Awards:
Two artistic jurors – $1000 for each winner
Two civic jurors – $1000 for each winner
